Manga Review: LIAR GAME

November 15, 2011
Posted by DaBrenz

Hello everyone! I’m the newest author here, DaBrenz! I’ll be introducing a manga instead. (since we already have so many anime lovers here)
The manga I will be introducing today is my favourite MIND-SCREW manga:

Artist/Writer: Kaitani Shinobu

This manga really catered more to the seinen category and like I mentioned, a psychological manga that really mind-screws you! It is also one of the most popular manga on MangaFox, with over a million views! However, there's only a little (if at all) romance in this manga...

Current Status as of this post: Hiatus. (You’ll know why shortly.)

The main protagonist of this story is a FEMALE who goes by the name of Nao Kanzaki. Revolving around other key characters such as Akiyama (HOTTIE superbub in my opinion), Yokoya, Fukunaga, this manga is really for one’s discovery of the mind at work, as well as to learn and see things in a completely different perspective, presented by the awesome Kaitani Shinobu.

The plot of the story revolves around money, and the story starts off with a whopping 100 MILLION YEN! Through numerous intricate plots against a masked organization with twisted desires to find the true “LIAR KING”, you can prepare to sit back and enjoy an extremely good read.

Who’s your friend?
What is your enemy?
Which one can you trust?
How will it progress?

No one can expect what the next twist in Liar Game will be.

However, be warned that the art of this manga has plagued many readers! Do not expect beautiful girls and art like those you find in 'Kaichou wa Maid~sama!', etc. This manga really focuses on the storyline and the development of the plot, and its loyal readers (us) would honestly prefer for it to stay that way! (As long as the story isn’t compromised).

Liar Game is available on MangaFox, with the latest chapters being scanlated by TDX. It has 138 chapters so far. The best part is that even though it is on hiatus right now, there is no cliffhanger! With an awesome plot like that of Liar Game, who minds a little hiatus?

Next review: Now, who doesn’t love a good high-school romance?

DaBrenz, signing off!

Final Impressions: Hanasaku Iroha

Morning folks!

Yes! Hanasaku Iroha fans! I am finally going to post the final impressions for this anime! So sorry for the wait!

"Hanasaku Iroha", or "Hana-Saku Iroha" (don't see what difference there is by placing a hyphen) an anime which I am currently watching. Yes, its one of those romance-filled, real life, super emotional type animes that we all (or some of us) love.

And just to make it a point, how can you not love the main character? She's sooooooo cute!!!

Well, I should go explaining the plot first, since that's the most important part.

Initially, life is, erm... not so good, when you have an irresponsible mother who is having a boyfriend and decides to abandon you to someone else. This is currently the life of this 16 year old girl; Ohana Matsumae. A hardworking girl who gets no reward for her efforts. You can say is harsh, but that's what makes it so realistic, lol.

And worst of all, Ohana's closest friend Kouichi Tanemura proposes to her right before she leaves, leaving her in a state of confusion!

So Ohana is left in the care of her grandmother, Shijima Sui, whom she realises owns a Taisho period (1920s) hot spring inn called Kissuiso in the countryside. Not getting on good terms with her grandmother at all, she makes her work at Kissuiso. However, she finds herself at ends with, well, almost all of the employees at the inn. (Like i said, harsh). Very discouraged at first, (even getting slapped later by her grandmother), she learns that she must change for the better, to make ammends, and get along well with them, eventually helping Kissuiso become even better in the future.

It is, without doubt, one of the best countryside type anime which i have ever seen. The plot is very well made, and it also contains humour to a generic level. Many of the characters in the anime are very funny at what they do, and there is a very warm atmosphere in the anime!

The many parts of the anime feature stuff that happens at the inn, like a drama featuring the inn, a wedding and the school festival.

However, nearing the end, right before the bonboru festival, things don't go so well for Kissuiso though. It is falling on hard times, trying to keep up with the costs, and of which the landlady's health is fading. So she announces that it is time for the 50++ year old hot spring inn to come to a close.

Many of the staff don't agree to her terms and work extremely hard to recover money, but to Ohana, it is obvious, they have lost the true character of Kissuiso, of which everyone enjoys his or her duty when they work in the inn.

In the end, well, it was a sad but touching end. All I would say is that everyone is happy as they do their jobs, and the problems are resolved, of which only time will tell at the success of the inn, and Ohana & Kouichi finally have their happy ending.

Hanasaku Iroha really is a heart-warming anime that you MUST WATCH, though there are some hot spring scenes and a bit of ECCHI I guess.
You can get the fansubs for Hanasaku Iroha from DokiHatsuyuki and SHiN-gx

Hanasaku Iroha has 26 episodes, and premiered from April 3 to September 25.

Omg, I'm so happy today!

First of which, we have a new Author! Yes! DaBrenz will be joining us later this week!

IAmBored               Tr3xus
DarrenW                 IAmBored

Well basically, the festival was AWESOME! It was so crowded, with otakus, cosplayers and anime lovers!

Well, basically, for those who didn't have any idea of what happened, it was mainly an exhibition hall filled with stalls that sold an unimaginable amount of figurines, otaku merchandise and PSP games! Omg I've never been so mesmerized in my life. Well basically it was because it was my FIRST festival.

There was also a live concert by some of my favourite artists, May'n, Kanako Ito, and LiSA, but that was the day before, so I missed it. (Yes I went on day 3)

And there were movie premieres, like the new Detective Conan movie, Quarter Of Silence!

Well, as Tr3xus and I were hardcore Steins;Gate fans, we managed to see the nitro+ booth, and we saw someone cosplaying as MAKISE KURISU!! But I forgot to take a picture..

There were other stalls like BANDAI, which featured the One Piece anime, Animax with Beelzebub (They let you take a photo with the baby!!!), BUSHIROAD with this huge area full of tables, where people were playing 'vanguard', and the GOOD SMILE COMPANY, with the figurines I preordered ON DISPLAY! Woohoo!

Well, to top it off, I also managed to see cosplayers for Mawaru Penguindrum's Himari, GOSICK's Victorique, the obvious Hatsune Miku, Steins;Gate Houuin Kyoma AND The World God Only Knows' Elsie!

Of course, what made me eternally happy was the fact that I bought a load of stuff from MUSE (Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai merchandise), as well as THIS FIGURINE! Yes, the Hirasawa Yui that I always have been wanting to add to my collection. Got 25$ discout too!

Well I decided not to show the cosplay pics cause it showed my face. Enjoy this pictures from AFA2011! Sorry for the quality from my iPhone.

Ore no Imouto Puzzle & Mouse pad!!

WWHCurrent Updates

November 9, 2011
Posted by FayeA

Yohoho, Merry Chistmas!

Oh damn, I opened the wrong draft. Well forget it, anyway, I am here today to explain certain updates to the WWHCurrent Website.

Firstly, after some consideration from our "leader" here, we decided to change how we put up rankings for animes. Yes I know, some scorings are very biased, ahahaha...
Well, after the new scores are in, you can check the new page tab that will be titled "Rankings"

Secondly, most of the staff will be back in FULL FORCE! Yes, up to next May, most of the staff will be able to post frequently. Please clap! *clap* *clap*

Thirdly, MedusaS has decided enough is enough! Well, she says that we are not putting in our best efforts in promoting for help. So from tomorrow onwards, we will be having recruitment posters! This is also a chance to say that WE ARE SHORT OF MANPOWER! We NEED help!

Fourthly, you guys might have noticed that there are new banners for the website! Hooray! *clap* *clap* Many thanks to DarrenW for designing those banners! I personally like the one with my name on it. :)

DarrenW likes to personally thank those who have visited our website in October! Even though we hardly posted anything, the amount of hits still increased! Also, this month, we had a record 200 hits per day! Do continue to support us, and we will help to achieve the best reviews for you guys!

And lastly, WWHCurrent is going to the Anime Festival Asia! Yes, well, not me, but the chief, the other invisible editor, and IAmBored! I hope you look forward to it because we will be doing a special post on it at the end of this week! (I am personally looking forward to editing it).

For now, enjoy this picture of what we think is DarrenW's character! (Hahahaha)

Oh, oh, oh yah, MedusaS has a special request to put this video, I'll just embed it here... It's supposed to go with the previous review.

See you soon!

Past Anime Review: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 1

November 9, 2011
Posted by MedusaS

Yes, I'm finally back! That was a very long vacation, and I do apologize for the lateness!

So now I will be doing a review on the extraordinary anime, "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya!"

You are probably wondering this: Why do I always see THIS girl everywhere, on posters, wallpapers, youtube vids and EVEN other animes like lucky star? Well, rather than contrary, it is TRUE. This anime did generate a lot of popularity back in 2006, actually even NOWSo why is it so popular? Well, apart from the randomness, retarded scenes and vague plot lines, it is actually an anime that probably ANYBODY can relate to, in terms of plot, theme and whatnot.

Firstly, the anime starts off with a video, that, at first glance, you probably won't understand a shit.

So let's briefly explain the plot first. Well, the protagonist is Kyon, and he will be the one telling you the story. Firstly, he enters high school as a first year student, yeah yeah, the usual anime development, BUT THEN, things take a LARGE change when he meets Haruhi Suzumiya, a weird girl. Why weird? Well firstly, she changes her hair ornament and style on a different day of the week. Secondly, she changes in class in front of the boys. Thirdly, that she does not care about humans and believes in aliens, espers and time travellers. See where this is going?

Haruhi & Kyon
So she sets off this club called the SOS Brigade, (which is actually on one of our banners here :D) where there are five members, mainly, Kyon, Yuki Nagato, Itsuki Koizumi, Mikuru Asahina, and herself, where they all look normal. But of course, we all know where this is going. Firstly, Yuki invites Kyon to her house, where she explains the "Integrated Data Entity" and that she is alien. And to top it off, Haruhi has the power to create or destroy the fabric of existence. And then suddenly, one way or another, it leads to the class president attempting to kill Kyon, of which she is also an alien.

Then, through some other weird and wacky plot, Mikuru reveals that she is a time traveler, and Itsuki reveals that he is an esper, and for both cases, the one who decides their existence is... HARUHI.

Then, out of the blue, Itsuki's relatives invite the SOS to a REMOTE ISLAND, where they have a great beach holiday but then the house butler is MURDERED... and the whole thing becomes a detective story.

Of course, the anime also blends with the normal every-anime school life. With the school festival approaching, the computer club society, of which trying to reclaim their stolen computer, challenge the SOS to a video game contest. Then the anime suddenly becomes some Star-Wars type Battlestar Galactica movie. XD. After which everything becomes normal again and Haruhi plays in a concert.

Yuki Nagato
Well, the last episode is epic. Haruhi and Kyon are suddenly whisked away in an alternate world, where a blue giant roams free and destroys the area. The world is at an end, and neither the time-traveler, esper, or alien, can do anything to stop it. All fate falls on Kyon, as he... kisses Haruhi? I don't know what happened, but thats how it looks like. She manages to transfer both of them back to the "normal world" and everybody is happy again.

Itsuki Koizumi
Now, of course, my review might have things in the wrong order, but this is the anime order (The one you will see). There are in total, THREE DIFFERENT EPISODE ORDERS, the Haruhi one (Live TV), Kyon order (Chronological order) and the DVD order.

This is a very confusing anime, but if you follow all three orders, you can get a detailed insight as to WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED IN the anime.

Mikuru
For its complex structure, I believe that there is a plot between the lines, so I won't say anything else. But one thing's for certain, on the surface, plot's very confusing.
Theme-wise, I sincerely believe that the producers did a good job if they were aiming for a sci-fi sort of anime. As for atmosphere, I felt that that it was RANDOM. Do expect lots of random an unexpected scenes in the anime, for most parts in the anime aren't taken seriously, except for the finale of the season, which I felt was SERIOUS. All in all, good anime for watching.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya has 14 episodes in the first season, and 28 episodes in the QUESTIONABLE second season. It also has a light novel version available. And I DON'T KNOW WHO SUBBED IT!

Next Anime Review: SEASON 2

If you watch this you have little life left. :D
