Epic Anime Review: Detective Conan Part 1

Oh My Gosh, 260 Episodes Done, but less than halfway through.

Firstly, because I'm scared of being sued, I like to acknowledge personally, that I do not own any of the images shown in this review, and that the credit for such images wholeheartedly goes to the producers involved in this animation.

That said, here is my review on Detective Conan! Part 1...

As many have watched this famous anime, it first begins in Beika City, a part of Tokyo! All attention focuses on Kudo Shinichi, who has recently gained fame from solving criminal cases.

The anime first begins with Kudo Shinichi's life, which revolves around solving cases with Chief Inspector Juzo Megure, and his childhood friend Mouri Ran, (Of which they are like a couple). Shinichi has an ultimate passion for detective novels such as those from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Edogawa Rampo, and lives with his famous parents, Yukiko Kudo the actress, and Kudo Yusaku, an established mystery writer. Looks like a peaceful setting!

Kudo Shinichi
But of course, that's obviously not going to happen1 XD The problem first begins when Shinichi and Ran go to an amusement park to have some fun. After solving a murder case, Shinichi sneaks behind and discovers an illegal dealing with men in black. But then, WHAM! Shinichi is caught off guard and knocked unconscious. The men in black then force a poisonous pill down Shinichi's throat, in an attempt to kill him.

Edogawa Conan
His body burns, and burns!

Then, he wakes up, as a SEVEN YEAR OLD KID! He quickly runs to his neighbour, Professor Agasa, in order to get some help! However, the professor decides that he should keep it a secret, otherwise his friends will be in trouble. But then, Ran arrives, and finds him! What will he do?

Mouri Ran
Easy, pop on some spectacles, and call yourself Edogawa Conan! Further on in the anime, he lives with Mouri Ran and his obnoxious father, Mouri Kogorou, who is, technically speaking, a retired policeman and currently, a failure as a detective, and lives to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, and watch pop idols on television. So what does Conan do? Well, help the old man of course.

Mouri Kogorou
So, with the help of inventions from the professor, he can stun the old detective at his will, and mimic his voice to give deductions on murder cases.

Basically, his role is to help Kogorou become famous as a detective so that he is able to find out more about the black men who turned him into a boy. Well, as the anime progresses, things actually, don't go very far, and he still remains a boy. But a chinese alcohol called Parapika is able to turn him momentarily, into a man again!

Professor Agasa
Conan goes on trips with Mouri Kogorou and Mouri Ran, OR with Conan's new elementary school classmates, as they discover murder cases all around, and solve them with Conan's reasoning.

Well, if you watch conan up to episodes 140s or so, you will meet Conan's new partner, Haibara Ai, or, in the organisation, known as "Sherry" of which she betrayed the organisation when her sister was murdered, and she herself took the pill. She lives a life of hatred and regret in the anime, and has a mysterious character. Personally, I prefer her with Conan. Hahahaha....

Hattori Heiji
Of course, there are new characters of the black organisation approaching. Along with Gin and Vodka, Jodie Santamilon (I think...) and 2 other new characters in episode 259.

To cut things short, I will explain the situation.
People who know Conan as Shinichi: His parents, Hattori Heiji, Haibara Ai, Professor Agasa.
Other characters include:
Members of the police force, Megure, Takagi, Sato,Yumi, Shiratori, Chiba, Yomokizo and Masao
The Detective Boys, Ayumi, Genta, Mitsuhiko and Haibara
and Kisaki Eri, Sonoko Suzuki and Kazuha Toyama

Haibara Ai
Of course, there is also a love triangle in this anime, of which, is very screwed up and I'm at a lost of how to explain.

However, there is some criticism. Conan is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to draggy. Don't expect plot developments until every 30 or so episodes. Most episode will be disjointed from the plot, so its just a murder case.

Still, Conan is nice when you have no other animes to watch, because you can keep on going and it will never end. Secondly, the plot is not so intense, so for easy watching, its quite pleasant. And thirdly, when you are sick of ECCHI, haha.

All Main Characters
Detective Conan premiered in January 8, 1996, and has one episode every week, up to the day. Currently, it is currently premiering its 20th Season, with 634 Episodes, 11 OVAs and 5 Magic File Specials. It also has 15 spectacular movies, a Live-Action Series and, J-Drama? I will not talk about Fansubs because the producers of this anime don't like that.

And I can't put a promo video because the user who uploaded it would most probably get banned.

Hint for next review: Alice-Sama?
